- D'Angelo - Voodoo-----deep, dark grooves/ a nice mixture of spirituality and sexuality/ great meditation on Questlove's snare drum(s)

- Man on the Moon--the movie portraying the life of avant-garde comedian, Andy Kaufman-----Jim Carrey does an amazing job playing Andy. Kaufman was a master of keeping the audience(and the network execs) in suspense. In his performances, he was able to create wonderful periods of extended tension, delighting & frustrating his audiences. He stayed 'in character' so much of the time, that his own family thought he was kidding when he informed them he had been diagnosed with lung cancer. I love his blend of disturbing darkness and wide-eyed, child-like innocence.

- Tony Allen-- Home Cooking-----Love this album!! Tony is a Nigerian-born drummer who plays grooves so deep & solid, they serve as another rung on the ladder to the Realm of Ultimate Groove...

- "The job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery." -----Francis Bacon-----We included this quote in the liner notes of our "My Experiments with Groove" recording. I still like to think about it, as it raises some great questions in my mind: What is the relationship of music to the human experience? What can music teach us about the great mystery of existence? How deep is it ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

- Vishwa Mohan Bhatt -- "Samadhi"-- This recording of V.M. Bhatt and Ramkumar Mishra is uplifting every time. You can really feel the love coming through the speakers as you get absorbed in the music. Very inspirational!

- Rivers and Tides -- This documentary features some of the works of sculptor Andy Goldsworthy. He uses natural materials such as stones, sticks, leaves, ice, and dirt to create sculptures in their natural surroundings. Part of his inspiration for creating the works is the notion that they will change form over time. Highly recommended.

- Me'shell Ndegeocello--Comfort Woman-----This disc oozes with soul. Heavy Reggae and R&B influenced grooves with silky vocals and gorgeous soundscapes. Her bass lines slay me.

- Lindsey Horner--Don't Count on Glory-----Lindsey is a terrific bassist & composer and a good friend of Green Light. His new CD has been in regular rotation in my CD player since I got it.

- Kurt Vonnegut--Fates Worse Than Death-----Kurt's insightful and humorous takes on topics such as art, religion, politics, war, love and Geraldo Rivera (his ex-son-in-law) woven with autobiographical commentary.

- The 55 Bar in NYC-----This tiny venue has some of NYC's finest musicians every night of the week. We visit this place whenever we are in New York. Where else can you see Wayne Krantz, Mike Stern, Victor Bailey, Ari Hoenig, and many others in a space not much bigger than a closet? A great place to see cutting edge music up close and personal.
